About IllustratingChristy
Hi, I'm Christy! I'm a wife, mom, and an artist on a mission to help us see our own beauty and worth.
IllustratingChristy started as a way to reclaim my confidence by celebrating the features I was once insecure about. Through watercolor portraits celebrating Black beauty, I explore themes of identity, resilience, and self-acceptance while honoring the features that make us unique.
I use real pressed flowers because they represent what I believe about us: we are delicate, yet resilient. My art celebrates the parts of ourselves we're often taught to hide... our natural features, our skin, our nappy hair, and our strength. Every portrait is a reminder that our beauty is not negotiable.
While my watercolor portraits celebrate Black beauty, I also created Nima to share those same messages of self-love in a playful way. Through stickers and positive affirmations, this celestial kitty reminds us that even in our darkest moments, our light is still there.
Whether through my watercolor portraits or Nima's whimsical reminders, my hope is that my art helps you see yourself as beautiful, worthy, and enough.
Thank you for being here and for supporting my small business!
P.S... I also paint my watercolor portraits live on Twitch. ⭐
xoxo,
Christy
